My Favorite 2015 Halloween Costumes

During Halloween, there's a lot of post about easy and simple costumes.  The thing is this Halloween I'm in the middle of class on a Friday and I still don't know what I'm going to be.  I wanted to highlight a couple of costumes that are beautiful and how to make them last minute.

Crow Queen

This is this years "trend costume".  If you're thinking the same thing I was which was "What is a Crow Queen?".  Long story short I googled it and still could not figure it out.  For this costume, to make it simple wear a black dress, put your hair in a low braid and add a flower.  This costume does look complicated and that it would take hours, but it really isn't.

 Wednesday Addams

If you want to go for a more traditional scary Halloween outfit go with the Wednesday Addams choice.  To make this easy wear a collards shirt under a black dress, and all you have to do with your hair is put it in two pony tails.

Classic Skull

This is one of my favorite classic easy Halloween costumes.  All you need it white makeup and some eyeliner.  For the outfit, dress like a bad ass.  Even if you don't have a leather jacket, there are so many more options.  Even wearing a simple flannel will look great.

Punk

For this costume, you just need to make a quick stop at wall mart for some colored hair dye.   For the outfit wear a cute baseball tee and spandex.

LongJohn Longboards Review

If you know me, you know I like to try new things. Usually, I don't go crazier than trying a new kind of sushi. But this time, I decided to learn a new skill and didn't break my arm so it was definitely worth it.

LongJohn Longboards

This company has been crafting high-quality longboards since 2008. All their products are earth friendly and are made with the highest quality materials. Their boards are made of Baltic Birch plywood. This type of plywood  is harvested from managed forests and like other hardwoods, Baltic Birch has no voids.

Deck

The deck I got was the 47 1/2 avalanche custom in red gum. This deck is thicker in the front than in the back. In my opinion, this helps with the stability of the board, making it feel more secure when going down hills. I think anyone who has ever gone down a hill and thought, "Oh, this might not end  well" would see this board helps to lessen that feeling.  It was more stable than any other board I've used.

Trucks

A photo posted by LongJohns Longboards™ (@longjohnslongboards) on
The trucks were the Paris black and silver 180mm. Even though trucks are not as important as the wheels, it is still something you have to consider when buying a board. Because this board is for more than going  from place A to place B in style, you want to get trucks like these because they are more for mobility than for tricks.

Wheels

The wheels were the vent clear blue Seismic speed vent 73/80a. My experience with boarding is on my old penny board. My penny board is a little shaky to say the least. I felt more stable on this board especially being in Burlington, Vermont; this board was great for going down hills or should I say mountains.

Bearings

A photo posted by LongJohns Longboards™ (@longjohnslongboards) on
The bearings were the rush ceramic all weather bearings. What I love about this and also living in Burlington is I have to worry less about things falling apart. Cold weather destroys everything and with the winter we had last year, it's great knowing I have a great product if I want to take a little winter ride.

7 Nail Polish Colors You Need to try From Trust Fund Beauty

The first thing I would like to say is the name for this company is genius. The nail polish gives the insurance of an actual trust fund. If only right?

About Trust Fund Beauty

Unlike most other nail polishes, Trust Fund is produced non-toxic and cruelty-free. Though a smaller brand, they pack an edge like no other. As the polish is so well thought out, the colors are destined to be gorgeous.

1. Put a Ring on It

Like a gorgeous diamond ring, this polish will never go out of style. Whether it’s in the middle of the summer or on a cold Burlington winter day, when wearing the pale purple nail polish I always get compliments.

2. Rich Girl Wasted

This color can be justly defined as an eyecatcher. People tend to stay away from purple and green because it reminds us of that one kid’s show...we all know which one. For a Thursday night out, this polish was unique and ideal.

3. Well Played

No one likes to get played in life, but nothing about this nail polish will be playing with how perfect it is for fall. This fall has made not only me, but essentially everyone a little obsessed with the color olive. This nail polish will make your nails look as if you were on the fall cover of Vogue.

4. Resting Bitch Face

This color gives off the impression of a little galaxy for your fingernails. Even though galaxy pants are definitely 2014, this nail polish is the perfect thing to compliment a little black dress.

5. Just Talk to my Lawyer

In a previous post, I talked about how wearing dark rich colored makeup as an enhancer during the fall month. This color nail polish is the perfect way to break your fear of wearing dark makeup.

6. Do you Know Who the Father is?

This polish definitely has the most interesting name out of the entire collection. This pale pink polish is gorgeous for a sweet night out.

7. Boy Tears

Lastly, I have to include the beautiful silver sparkle nail polish. For some reason, I've had the same favorite color of nail polish since I was 5 years old; I don't see it changing any time soon.

Must Haves For October

This week has been the first week in a while that I've even had to think about leaving my dorm with a sweatshirt and that kinda makes me a little sad that summer is over. Getting into the transition to cooler weather can be a little sad, but her of some things to make your October a little better.

Life

Why Not Me By Mindy Kaling

If you don't already know, I'm a little obsessed with Mindy Kaling.  I think she is hilarious, has gorgeous style, and I also want her to adopt me.  I bought her book and even know I've only had time to read the first chapter, Mindy I would totally share skittles with you.

Technology

VSCOcam

Instagram has slowly become one of my least favorite apps.  It use to be great, but it has turned into this popularity contest for who can get the most likes and comments.  Isn't this app suppose to be about taking great photos and sharing your creativity?

VSCOcam is great because there and no follower ratio and you don't like photos.   What you do differently is you save pictures you like to an album and the photos are so much better than the ones you see on instagram.

What I like about this app is, you actually want to look at the photos after you saved them.  When have you ever looked at the photos you've liked on Instagram.  The only reason why you like photos on Instagram is to please your friends, let's be honest.

Fashion

Cable Knit Sweaters

Sweaters are a must need for fall.  I work till midnight in northern Vermont and at the end of the night I can barely feel my toes.  But when I go home I get into my cozy cable knit sweater and all is right in the world.

Jean Jacket

Yes I realize that jean jackets seem to be in fashion since the 70s, but they are great for chilly fall days.  You can easily throw a sweater on under it and it looks great and cozy.

Large Vintage Scarf

Large scarfs are honestly better than having a significant other in fall.  Where I go to school it's only October and I think I've already got a cold from being outside too long in the cold weather.  Scarfs are perfect because they are fashionable and also keep you warm.

Hair

Color Ombre

I just recently cut off all my blonde hair and cut it short.  Right after I did that I saw this colored ombre hair which I wish I died the blonde a color and cut it this short.  Remember a couple of years ago when dip-dyed tips were in fashion?  This is a little like tips but more of your hair is dyed.

Grey Hair

I will forever want to dye my hair gray.  The reason why this hair color is a must for fall is because I think the dark gray matches well with the deep fall colors.  Fall is all about rich colors, and I believe this hair color compliments it well.

Short hair

Short hair is taking over.  The best part about the colder weather and short hair is it takes a lot less time to dry.  Nothing is worse then going outside in 20 degree weather with a 25 mile and hour wind chill.  Keep is short and rock it.

Beauty

Septum Piercing

I'm not telling you to walk outside your house right now and get your septum pierced, but if you want to then go for it.  I honestly think if you can pull it off rock it.  And you can always take it out.
Etsy

Dark Lips

Usually I'm never someone to say I think dark makeup looks cool, but for some reason I think rocking the dark red lips and smoky eye in fall looks amazing.  This fall work with the darker colors and mix your blacks and grays.

Nail Biters Rejoice Introducing Edible Nail Polish

Kids licks is an organic nail polish made of vegetables, fruits, and plants.  Although this nail polish was designed to target children, it doesn't mean you can't try it yourself.

Even though these polishes weren't created to help the nail biters in the world, they're still something you should try out.  Parents Josh and Audry created them because their daughter wanted to paint her nails, but the drugstore polishes had too many chemicals.

Normal nail polish is a pain to get off, and sometimes rubbing it with a cotton ball and nail polish remover doesn't even get the job done.  With this polish, all you need to do is scrub your nails with soap and water.

Currently, this nail polish comes in three shades: beet red, barley grass green, and sour carrot orange.  The company is currently working on new polishes, but you can buy the nail polish on their website for $13.99.

7 Things You Need to do This Autumn In Vermont

1. Go Hiking at Mad River Path

It seems like it would be too cold to take a stroll through the mountains in October, but after a few minutes you’re going to be wishing the weather was colder. Remember to wear a few layers, it can get chilly at the top.

2. Apple Picking at Shelburne Orchards

Even if you think apple picking is lame, you're mind will be changed once you get to Shelburne Orchards. Not only is the staff extremely nice, but they have the best apple cider donuts ever.

3.  Get A Photo in a Covered Bridge

You might think this is a basic Vermont picture, but covered bridges are beautiful with fall foliage. Last year I found one on the recreation path in Stowe. They are a perfect place for an Instagram photo.

4. Bike the Burlington Bike Path

Burlington can get very crowded this time of year. It's impossible to walk down Church Street without accidentally running into someone, but we only go to church street for the adorable puppies anyway. Burlington Bike Path is the perfect escape from the Burlington tourism.

5. Bake an Apple Pie Pumpkin Pie

No matter what people say about pumpkin being basic, it will never stop me from loving it. Head down to a local pumpkin patch and pick out a big pumpkin. Make sure to carve your pumpkin before you make the pie!

6.  Take A Walk at Shelburne Farms

Anyone who knows me knows I'm in love with Shelburne farms. When I become a millionaire I'm going to buy this place. Shelburne farms have a great walk where you can see the lake.

 7. Burlington Farmers Market

This is one of my favorite Saturday activities, and not just because they have great free food. It’s a great place to interact with the community and meet all the local vendors.

The 21 Century Breakup: The Fake Up

Having a relationship in your late teens and early twenties probably sounds like something medieval.  While there are a few rare exceptions, most Tinder relationships end in an awkward "Netflix and chill" date or a hookup. This article is about the modern breakup aka the "Fake up.”

It looks like a relationship, it feels like a relationship, and it ends with all the pain of a real breakup. The only difference is you never made it official. Introducing the new millennial relationship, the fake up.

Two summers ago I met someone and I thought “this would be an interesting way to spend my last summer before college,” little did I know it would be the most painful breakup I’ve ever had.

During the summer, we saw each other every day and talked all the time. It was like official relationships I've had before, without the “FB official” part. When I left for school it became apparent that I was emotionally invested in the relationship. We continued to talk everyday and we saw each other when I visited home.

Long story short, our "fake-up" was in the middle of my second semester of college.  It was one of the hardest breakups I’ve ever dealt with. I wondered if I should even care about the end of our relationship because we weren’t officially dating.

My opinion on fake ups is to embrace what you are feeling. For a long time, I felt like I was stupid for having feelings for him. I felt like the way I was feeling was my fault.

The truth is, it’s not your fault, and being with someone without a commitment does not make you stupid. Relationships are hard. We enter into these fake relationships because they seem easy.  But you take the chances of them hurting you in the end.

Buck Naked Soap Review

I'm currently a sophomore at University of Vermont studying entrepreneurship. When I decided I wanted to have my own business, I started buying products from smaller, homemade companies.

One of my favorite sites to buy from is Etsy. Everything I've bought from Etsy has been wonderful and packaged perfectly. When you buy through Etsy you are supporting someone's dream. I hope when I get the chance to open my business people will help me too.

One thing about college that I've always had a hard time with is making a place so far away actually feel like home.  Everything in college is very commercialized and generic.

I found a natural soap company called Buck Naked Soaps. The company is owned by a Canadian woman named Rina, I found her story interesting. Back in 2013 Rina's newborn son had eczema, and most beauty products contain harmful chemicals that irritated his skin.

My favorite part about this soap is the way it smells. Some soaps like Ivory and dove smell like chemicals, but this soap smells just like its flavors. I chose the cranberry, mint, and Himalayan salt flavored soaps. The soaps are natural and don’t make you feel like you’re washing your body with watered down chemicals. Buck Naked Soaps also sells bath bombs, which are great for some relaxation after a long day of studying.

9 Struggles Of Online Shopping

1. When Every Size your Could Fit in is Sold Out

Gif courtesy of animatedmeme.blogspot.com
This is the ultimate struggle of online sale shopping.  Whenever forever 21 is having an amazing online sale, you find that cute boho dress for only $5 then realize it only comes in XXXS.

2. "Free Shipping"

Gif courtesy of tumblr.com
Don't you love when you get an email from your favorite store advertising free shipping, go online and find those shoes you've been lusting after, only to realize at checkout that you have to spend $200 to get free shipping.

3. When Your Item Gets Sold Out in Checkout

Gif courtesy of yourtango.com
Online designer sale are sometimes more stressful then your accounting final that you've studied hours for.  You have to quickly find something that is memorizing, quickly add it to your cart, add your credit info.  Only to realize that your order did not go through because it was sold out in the time it took for you to go through your order.

4. When Shipping is More than Your Item

Gif courtesy of mtv.com
I think everyone who's ever shopped on Amazon has bad this problem.  When you find a wine opener that is only $1.43 and you think you've found the best deal ever only to find out the shipping for the item is $21 dollars.

5. When It Looks Way Better Online

Gif courtesy of giphy.com
One time I bought what I thought was the coolest vintage inspired dress online.  Only when it came I looked like I was wearing a curtain I stole from a colonial museum.  Then the worst part when they didn't have free returns.

6. Getting Email Reminders About the Items You Looked At

Gif courtesy of giphy.com
The worst thing is when you are trying to be responsible with your money.  So you do a little online window shopping and add a few items to your cart.  Then a couple hours later you get that email, that you forgot something in your cart.  Note to stores: If we wanted to buy it, we wouldn't leave it in the cart.

7.  Being Judged By the Mail Man

Gif courtesy of makeagif.com
I'm pretty sure by now the fed ex, UPS, and mail man all know me by name.  The Fed Ex guy is actually one of my Dad's friend from high school and said that a package comes to my house about every day.  Maybe that's a sign I should stop for a little bit.

8. When you Have to Wait Forever to get it Delivered

Gif courtesy of giphy.com
I thought the worse was ordering things from china was the worse until I came across Zulily.  Their prices are amazing, but It takes months for you to get your items.  I bought a pair of boots over thanksgiving break and didn't get them until the end of my winter break.

9. When you End up Paying for Shipping and It Looks like This...
