Summer 2015 Swim Trends

Summer is almost upon us and after nine months living in Vermont with the harsh cold winds, I can't wait to sit on the beach and read Modern Romance.  Here are a couple of the new trends in 2015 Swim wear and some sites were you can get these styles!

I really like this style.  I think dresses and tank tops with this neck line look amazing.  This bathing suite covers up your chest area and brings attention to your abs.  The other great thing about this style is I have seen different variations of this style in prints, solids, and fabrics like lace.

I have a bra that has this style and they are really comfortable even though you would think they wires would get annoying.  With this you are going to have to worry a little about tan lines.  Sense the top is a little longer if you wear this then wear a classic triangle top the next day you will have some strange lines.

I believe it was Taylor Swift who brought back retro swimwear.  The key with this style is the high wasted bottom as long as you have that pretty much any top besides a triangle Bikini will look retro.

I really like that this style is not just for athletes and for beach volleyball teams.  I always thought these bathing suits were so cool because they were so unique.  Everyone was wearing the Hollister and Abercrombie of bathing suites but these are very classic and laid back.

8 Outfits For Tinder Dates to Love to First Sight Dates

1. The Tinder Date

You have both swiped right and the conversation started.  You and your roommate creeped through his Facebook and he doesn't look like a serial killer and your two mutual friends say he is a good guy. 

So now what do you do walk out in your yogas and a sweatshirt?

In my experience with tinder (yeah not so proud of it, but its college right?) a tinder date is watching Netflix.  Be casual and dress comfortably.  I just read an article that said to wear a dress to a tinder date just no please don't.  Jeans sneakers and a shirt are perfect tinder date apparel. 

(p.s Real nice guys do not say they're nice guys)

2. The Blind Date

 The thing about a blind date is it doesn't really matter what you are wearing, because no offense few guys know about women's fashion .  A blind date is about learning about the person you are on a date with.  Probably before social media this is a bigger issue but you don't know anything about this person so take more time learning about our date then worry if your shirt matches your shoes.  

For this date chances are it's on a weekday and you will have to go after work or class.  For this date I would dress in the middle of dressed and casual.  Wearing a shirt and a skirt is the most dressed up you really need to be. 

3. The 'Set Up By Grandma' Date

 Chances are you have been dreading this date all week, well unless the women in grandma's book club is the mother of Theo James (if only).  But you never know Grandma might have found your prince charming.  

For this outfit dress respectful.  Here's a little tip of mine, never wear low cut clothing on a first date if you want the relationship to last.  Your boobs will not catch a good relationship your brain will.  Not saying borrow your grandmothers clothing but dress up, look cute and classy. 

4. The Eharmony Date

Now that we are in the time where now you can find a husband by paying a website 9.99 every month is something that is pretty interesting and strange.  The things about these sites is they make questionnaires and you have a profile.  Chances are when you are going on the date your date already knows things about you.  

You do you.  That means dress how you want to and don't let any magazine or Jenny your office partner tell you what to wear.  Also with these dates it could be anything because it's about sharing interests.  If you both are red socks fans wearing a LBD to Fenway park might be a little much.

5. The Is this or isn't this a Date

Did the cute guy in your office ask you out to drinks to get to know you better or did he ask to get some advice on his new account?  This is a situation I'm pretty sure everyone has been in at least one time in their life.  Like cute hem lab partners, why do schools do this to us?

In this situation you can never go wrong with a little black dress.  With the accessories do not go overboard wearing a cute pare of heels is perfect.  Also if it is not a date then you can say you're going out with the girls later or if it is a date, well I'll leave that up to you.

6. The Ex-Date

Whether you broke it off with him or he did with you look flawless either way.  Always dress for where you are going, whether you are going to dinner or meeting at Central Park, it does not mean you have to dress down or up. Blair wears heels in Central Park so can you. 

For this I'm leaving it up to you, wear your favorite outfit or the sweater he loved on you.  The advice I want to give you is do not go over the top, there is no need to take as long a Kim does to get ready.  Chances are he's seen you without any makeup on so if you show up with a different skin color he might notice.

7. The Classmate Date

Chances are he has seen you with two hours of sleep and you didn't have enough time to make coffee.   Long story short he's seen you at your worse.  

For this outfit I would dress in something you have not worn to class and if you wake up 15 minutes before class like me something that you have put a little more effort in.  Even though they say guys never notice anything I have to give them a little more credit.  Take the couple minutes and straighten your hair to put on a new necklace.

8. The Romeo And Juliet Date

You met at your friend from works New Years Eve Party and when the clock hit midnight you both locked eyes.  Out of all the dates this one is going to be the hardest one because your nerves will start to kick in.  

For this outfit you are going to be asking everyone what they think you should wear even your postman.  My advice is ask one person, your ally, the one person that will tell you the honest truth but in a nice way.  My advice is wear something that you are comfortable in and something that won't make you more nervous.  The last thing you want is having to worry if your new dress is too short, too low cut, or the zipper only zipped up half way and last minute you have to think of something else to wear.

When it comes to buying beauty products in college I stay to what ever is the cheapest and won't damage my skin or hair.   The problem with that is you get products that only work for a few hours or have bad results.  This month I splurged a little and got a couple products from Nourish Organic and they are wonderful.  

What is Nourish Organic?

Nourish Organic started ten years ago and became the first line of chemical free and environmentally  friendly products.  My favorite part of their company is that they are completely cruelty free and gluten free.  Every sense I looked at the list of all the companies that test on animals the boycott started.  This company also gives back to the community, a couple of the organizations they donate to are The Women's Shelter and meals on wheels.

I kinda find it funny that people will ask "How of you like your shampoo?" or  "What's your favorite lipstick color" but no one asks about deodorant.  I feel like it's just something everyone uses and forgets about it until they really do forget that day to put it on.  We all use it why not talk about it?

There's a few things I look out for when I try a new deodorant.  One is does it smell good.  Yes they do have odd and weird smelling sticks and it makes me wonder who forgot to smell this one.  It's best for you not to smell at all or smell great.  This deodorant does have a strong smell once you put it on but goes away after you put a shirt on.  You smell like flowers all day, who wouldn't love that?

I workout pretty much everyday and the last thing I want is to get white marks on my shirt or have white deodorant balls on your arms.  This deodorant is a great mixture of a dry and solid.  It is more liquid so the white goes away and sinks into your skin, no white marks! Then once it sinks is there is not dry deodorant residue.

Moving from Cape Cod to Burlington Vermont, my skin took a beating this winter.  Before this I was using lotion that I believe I only paid two dollars for and it was doing absolutely nothing.  After using this for a couple of days it saved my skin.  This product is more on the thick side and it is better to put on right before you go to be or if you are wearing a skirt or a dress.  

When I look for lotions there are two main aspects I look for.  Does it smell good and how does it dry.  One time I bought lotion and put in on right before I went to work for the fist time.  Five minutes before I had to leave I was showering because it was so strong.  Still made it to work 2 minutes early though!  This lotion does have a smell but it not over powering and smells great.  Sometimes especially fake tan lotions take forever too dry.  This lotion does take a couple of minutes but for how thick it is it drys remarkably fast.

DC Comics Is Finally Launching a Comic Book Line for Girls

Why is it that the only thing we have close to to a girl superhero is the powderpuff girls and women super heroes that never have more then a couple lines.  If Laura Lance can become the canary in Arrow then why are their not more girl superhero.  She's not as much as a bad ass as Sara.  Defiantly could not survive on a deserted island but she still can beat up a metahuman.  I should probably stop because Arrow pretty much broke my heart this season and I could go on for days about Arrow. Olicity needs to happen, just saying.

Thanks to an 11 year old girl DC comics is finally launching a comic line just for girls.  The 11 year old wrote a letter to DC showing her sadness about the lack of female characters and like most things with children doing extraordinary things it went viral.  Step aside blue/Gold dress something else broke the Internet.

The new line of comic books will focus on their most popular super heroes like superwomen and poison ivy in their teens.  This line of comic books is set to launch in the fall.

How to Wear Denim This Spring

I remember when I was in fifth grade I got made fun of for having a jean jacket and now wearing a sundress without a jean jacket is just not a completed outfit.  So take that fifth grade mean girls.  Jean is great for the transition from winter to spring because it is a light layer and is also very fashionable.

Lilly Pulitzer and Target

Today was the launch for the Lilly Pulitzer and target collection.  Normally Lilly retails from $50-$500 which on my budget and most college students is just unrealistic to afford.  But the target collection ranged from $2-$150 and most of the more expensive items were housewares. 

I had a job interview over the phone at 9 and I figured why not wake up early and check on the Lilly and Target sale.  Everything was sold out.  The problem is people will buy in bulk all the clothing and sell it on Ebay.  They can do this because it is the same quality of the full priced Lilly dresses.  People can charge twice the amount they paid for it because it was never worn.  

The only solution would to have a bigger stock from their products.  But there really is not a way to have people from buying things in bulk and taking away from the customers that just want to buy one dress to wear to an event.

Coachella is a two weekend music festable  in Indio, California, located in the Inland Empire's Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert.  Coachella lately has been getting a lot of attention from celebrates and H and M even has their own Coachella line.  The first day of the first weekend started today, here are some quick outfits you could pull together for Coachella also some funny Coachella rules I found on their site.

This Would Save Lives: College Student Creates PMS Ice Cream

We all know when it's coming.  You trade in your little black dress for some sweats and grab a spoon and scoop out some chocolate heaven.  College student Parker Jones from Dallas created a product packaging design  for just that time of the month.  

 Every container is designed for the current mood you are in.  According to Parker "The suggestion to do a ice cream packaging project came form a professor of mine," she told seventeen magazine. "After that I tried to come up with different themes. I thought, 'Why do I eat ice cream?' I crave it when I'm PMSing! From there, I came up with the three stages of PMS: "I Think I'm Dying", "Don't Come Near Me" and "Give Me More," all of which are how I feel when I'm cramping, pissed off, and craving ice cream."

On a sad note these are only a product design.  If only Parker could get together with start up ice cream company and get on shark tank.  Kevin O'Leary is defiantly a guy with a sweet tooth and I think he would find this idea hilarious but genius.
