7 Skills You Need to Learn Before College

Leaving for school, even high school is stressful, and your freshman year of college is possibly the scariest in my opinion.  Here are some tips to help you survive.  

1. Laundry

This could possibly be the most important thing you need to learn before you go to college.  You won't have our parents to relay on having your clothes clean so if you want to have good outfit choices.  My advice is start doing your laundry right after graduation so you get use to it.   

2. Easy Cooking

In college you can't go out to dinner every nigh with your friends.  When your studying you will need a quick study break.  Before you go to college learn how to make basic pasta like spongebob mac and cheese.

3. Learn to Window Shop

Even though you think you love in in a few months you probably won't be using it.  Learn what is a necessity and what is not.  In college you will need all the money you can have to have a little fun.  Instead of going out every night in the summer try staying in and saving money.

5. Being productive with homework

In college you alone your best friend won't be their to help you with your homework and "compare answers".  If you are caught cheating in college you will be kicked out and you will loose everything.  If you need help in college talk to your professor.

6. Pulling and all Nighter

For me this will not be a problem, college is the one time in your life when sleep insomnia comes in handy.  When you need to stay up grab some caffeine and listen to some Eminem on Spotify.  The most important thing to remember is just don't stress out.  

7. Dress well, when you need to

At college you will be meeting new people everyday.  Also you will be meeting people that could possibly being your Future employers.

2014 Hair Colors to Take A Risk and Try

Rose Gold

Rose gold became popular in 2012 when Blake Lively showed up to the green lantern movie.  It's a mix between brown, blonde, and pink.   This is the perfect color for the spring and summer of 2014.

 Radiant Orchid

Pantone said that Radiant Orchid was the color of 2014.  Celebrities like Katy Perry have a ready tried this color.  Will you be the next?

Ombre

 

 Ombre has been around for a while and it doesn't seem like it is going anywhere.  I've had my hair like this before and love it. 

Platinum Blonde

 This has been said to be one of the hottest hair styles to try this year.  This hair color is best to just one solid color with no highlights.  

Dark Brown

 This is the perfect hair color for winter.  Nothing looks better than dark brown hair and a knit hat.

Dark Lilac 

I love this color.  It's a mix between purple and pink.  It's darker than the shade that Kelly Osborne tried.  

Apps Every Girl Needs to Have

Spotify

Don't you wish you could listen to your favorite artist all the time? Well spotify is the app.  I have it on my computer, iPad, and cell phone and could see my day with out it.  You can create a play list with your favorite songs and play it on shuffle.  I like spotify much more than Pandora because you can create your play list so there's no need to skip through songs.
3. PINTEREST

I love pinterest for fashion tips, nail designs, and hair styles.  You can follow people who share your same interest.
QUIZUP
If your ever going to be in long car ride download quiz up.  You can challenge your friends or strangers in trivia in every topic.  It's a great way to pass the time and learn some new information.
Instagram
Yes I think everyone who knows DBC's story knew this one was coming.  Instagram is a great way to stay connected with your friends and also take beautiful photos with amazing fillers.
 

5 Tips for Online Shopping

Today I was taking a walk with my dog and I said that inspired me to write this post.  What I said in conversation was "I could write A book on online shopping".  The thing about that statement is I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.  Over the past year of me shopping I have saved well over a thousand dollars.  I saved $200 dollars on a brand new macbook from the apple store.  Who doesn't pay full  price for a macbook? That's what inspired me to write this article.

1. Get on their Mailing list and Actually read your email

 

Every day I get email that stores I shop at are having sales.  And with those emails I have learned what the real sales are.  Right now American eagle is having a sale that is a complete rip off.  That is because in a couple of weeks that are going to have a sale that is 60% off clearance rather then their sale right now that is up to 60% off.  My online rule is I never buy anything unless it is at least 50% off and under $20.

2.  Read The Reviews

Sometimes their is a reason something is one sale.  Always read the reviews and look at the photos if they have them.  I know modcloth has photos in their reviews which are really helpful when you are deciding to buy something that is final sale.  Stores will do anything to make sure a product sells. Read the lowest review and always read the top.

3.  Search For Coupons

Do you want to know how I got $200 off my macbook?  When ever you buy anything online always search for coupons.  Say you where going to buy A shirt from Pacsun, search in google pacsun coupons.  You might find something helpful.

4.  Tell the company how much you like them

Two years ago I chatted with lulus online and told them I loved their store and always love the clothing on their sight.  I wasn't looking for anything in return but I got a code to get 15% off.  Even though that doesn't seem like a lot It still saved me a lot when I was buying my dress for formals.

5. BE SAFE

If the site is creeping you out don't buy anything from it.  No clothing is worth you getting your information stolen.

4 Tips on How to Dress When You Meet the Parents

There is nothing more nerve-racking then meeting the parents, personally I like to run and hide.  But with a few steps you will be winning his parents over with your charm.  

1. Don't Ask Him

 

Unless your dating Justin Timberlake, your boyfriend probably knows the basic things about fashion to get him through life.  He probably won't think it's a big deal what you wear and as long as yourself they will love you.  Just put effort in it and wear your best outfit.

2. Dress Classic 

There are somethings in your closet you should avoid wearing when you meet his parents.  No short skirts or dresses.  The last thing you want to be doing is constantly fidgeting on your dress.  if you decide to wear a dress have to go to the middle of your thigh or longer.  No low cut shirt you have to remember this is their pride and joy they want him dating mother Teresa not Kim Kardashian.  And the most obvious NO FISHNETS. 

3. Show who are Are

 

The parents want their son to date someone who will make him happy.  Dress your outfit up with accessories that show your fashion sense.  They don't want to see someone walk through the door wearing a black dress and no color.  

  

4. Look Natural

 

No parent wants their child to be dating someone wearing so much makeup you can't tell what they are feeling.  Wear minimal natural makeup.  Look Presentable you are trying to make a good impression so don't forget to wash your hair and clean your nails.  Yes they sound like common sense but nerves can be a powerful feeling.  

The best tip is to just relax.  Nerves can get the best of people and cause them to make a bad impression and thats the last thing you can do.  If your boyfriend love you I'm sure his parents will

Great Ideas for a Friday Night With Your Friends When Your Totally Broke

Have A Potluck

I love going out to dinner with my friends but when the eighty dollar bill comes it's not such a happy moment.  A great idea is to have a potluck.  Yes food is not free but you all have to eat.  Cooking at home is a lot cheaper then eating out and you can probably find food in your house to make.  Also you don't have to worry about being to loud and making other costumers angry because your in your own house or your friends.  

Movie Night

There is not one girl that does not own one chick flick.  Ask your friends if they have any movies and have a movie night at your house.  The best thing about staying home and watching a movie is you don't have to worry about missing anything because you can always pause it.  If you and your friends do not have any movies there is not even a need to spend $1.20 on a red box.  Stop by the library where you can rent movies for free.  

Have a Game Night

(sorry I just had to do the one with the adorable puppy :))

There is nothing better then having a friendly competition with your friends.  They key word in this sentence being friendly.  Have fun this this night and don't let it turn into a family game night.  Ask your friends to bring there favorite game and remember to just have fun. 

Volunteering 

Yes I understand that this is what every person want to do on their Friday nights but volunteering with friends is really fun.  Last year I volunteered Friday night at the local recreation center and played sports with the younger children in my town and it was really fun.  Also it's doing something great for your community and your having fun while doing it.

Have a "frock" Swap

I have heard of these and have always wanted to have one..  What a frock swap is you and your friends swap clothing.  Bring your old clothing that you love but just doesn't fit you anymore.  Or something you bought and it turned out to just not be for you.  This is a great idea because something that doesn't work of you could completely  be perfect or your friend.

Mindy Lahiri- The Mindy Project played by Mindy Kaling

I love the Mindy project because her character to extremely relatable and hilarious.  Mindy Kaling plays Mindy Lahiri a doctor living in New York City.  She put together that you would think would never work but they somehow look amazing.  

2.OLIVIA POPE-SCANDAL, Played by Kerry Washington 

I think it is impossible to watch Scandal and not be envious of Olivia's bravery.  She is strong, powerful, and can take down any powerful politician.  This show always shows her in white showing that her heart is pure which I think is great when shows dress their actors in specific colors because you can show how they are feeling.

I do have to admit that Aria is my least favorite on Pretty Little liars her consume designer knows whats going on.  Lucy Hale's character is a free spirited teenager who loves vintage clothing.Costume Designer: Mandi Line

Zoe Hart - Hart of Dixie, Played by Rachel Bilson

I Am completely envious of Zoe hart and she's not even a real person.  I absolutely love everything that she wears on her show and I think everyone would agree.  Zoe Hart is a women who got a job in Bluebell after she got fired from her job in New york City.

Loving Fashion was Red, How to Wear Red in the Winter

1.Heels

You might find this one a little obvious but even though it's passed Christmas it is not to late to still pull of red as a statement color.  Red Heels will look perfect at a party when you are wearing a dress or skirt even a pair of blue jeans. 

2. A Clutch

Theres nothing more eye catching that having a statement accessory.  Red is the perfect in the winter because many people do not think red is a good color to wear in the winter. 

3. A Red Bow

If your having one of those mornings where you hit the snooze button one to many times and you need a quick hair style try using a bow.  A red bow gives your hair a nice half up half down look and pulls your hair away from your face.

4. Nails

I see today that more often than not people are staying away from using red nail polish.  Which I completely don't agree with, my nails are currently red and I love them.  Red is a color that catches everyone eye and that's why everyone paints there nails. 

5.Cardigans 

A bright red cardigan is the perfect compliment to you little black dress when you get cold in the winter.  

6.Lips

Nothing make a bigger statement then bright red lips.
