4 Ways to Rock Jelly Scandals

When I was a kid in the ‘90s, there were these shoes that I never understood as fashionable, but they like most things came back. Unlike typical trends that come back, this one I actually approve of. Shoulder pads on the other hand that made their way to fashion a few years ago, when they reside in the ‘80s.  Jelly Sandals are a perfect end of summer staple.  

1. High waisted flair skirt

The best thing about the clear jelly sandals is they match pretty much everything.  Summer is a great time to try this trend, match a cute flowery skirt with a cute crop top.

2. Over alls

In my opinion, overalls are a tough piece to make look cute.  What matters is the fit, wash, and how you style it.  The problem is overalls can sometimes make you look goofy and young, but if you style this trend correctly it will completely transform the outfit.

3. Cute mini dress

Ok, so a mini dress may look cute with pretty much anything, but I think these are perfect for a summer night out because you never know what kind of adventures you might be going on.

4. Maxi Skirt

What I like about the black jelly sandals is they are a little bit of an illusion.  From far away you can't tell that they are this ‘90s trend that was brought back and look more dressy. 

Eleven 90s Trends Making a Comeback

I may be a little biased, but in my opinion the best time to grow up was the ‘90s before kids had tablets and cell phones - when kids were actually kids.  The ‘90s were also popular for their fashion trends (some of those trends I never thought would come back), but scrunchies are now more fashionable than ever before.

1. Choker

I remember one day I was in kindergarden and this girl was wearing a choker and I could not see it as fashionable because I thought it was a little dark.  Today I think completely differently; chokers are being seen on the most fashionable celebrities.

2. Sexy Tousled Hair

For someone who loves to take naps before work, this trend may be my favorite.  No need for your hair to look perfect and sleek. Relax a little and let the sexy bed head be.

3. Doc Martins

Doc Martins became popular a few years ago for the hipsters, but now there are becoming more mainstream and it seems like just about everyone is wearing Doc Martins.

4. Leather Biker Jacket

A very iconic signature ‘90s sitcom piece that every bad boy had.  No longer are those dark jackets just for the boys, they’re being worn by Cara Delevingne and several other high fashion influencers.

5. Floral Skater Dress

 Skater dresses have always been in style, but the classic dress with a floral print is filling up the summer style trends.  It’s perfect to match your dress with a cute pair of sneakers.

6. Jelly Sandals

 I never thought these would come back and when I saw them on a Kardashian I thought they would still stay in the ‘90s, but the more I saw of them and how they are styled the more I came around. 

7. Platforms

 What I love about these is they are a way to add height in a casual way.  What I mean is when someone wants to look a little taller sometimes you can’t always wear heels, but platforms are an easy way to add some inches. 

8. Scrunchies

I’m a little happy about this trend, not only because they add another way for someone to add color to their outfit, but they are also healthier for your hair.  The skinny elastics are harmful because some have wires and the elastic and rip your hair.  Scrunchies have a thicker fabric that protect your hair. 

9. Flannel

My favorite piece of clothing to wear year round.  Depending on how you style it, you can wear a flannel with pretty much anything. 

10. Pink Streaks

What the ‘90s didn’t have, but we have today, is the ability to achieve this trend without having to become fully committed.  There’s dye, hair chalk, hair color spray, and Brittlettes, all that allow you to choose how devoted you want to be to the pink. 

11. Crop Tops

This is my rules about crop tops: when you’re young, wear them as much as you can because before you know it you’ll be working 9-5 and have to be a real adult. 

When Pokemon Go Attacks Fashion

It seems Pokemon Go has quickly taken over everyone's life.  One night last week my friends and I were driving and my friends starts screaming that there's a Pokemon outside.  I had no idea what she was talking about, but it's a pretty addicting game which allows you to catch Pokemon in your daily life.

While some people are walking around outside collecting these Pokemon, they are also taking over stores and malls.  Some stores even have to have signs that say "Pokemon are for paying customers only".  People are now shopping at stores they wouldn't normally because they want to catch a rare species of Pokemon.

 People are going into stores to find these Pokemon and it is increasing the number of customers the stores are seeing throughout the day.  The local coffee shop in my town is a "Pokemon Gym" and is completely packed with people having battles with other Pokemon players.

 Some stores are not so happy about this new phenomenon while others are embracing it. Forbes has even written an article about how to lure customers to your store using Pokemon Go. Sadly, for store owners the Pokemon hot spots are determined by the game developers.

Jade Bloom Oils Review

Jade Bloom Oils was created to deliver health, happiness, and healing to everyone.  They make the highest quality oils at the lowest cost.  They are all natural and organic.  I found out about this company through Instagram, and let’s just say, my time was not wasted on social media that day.  

One of my biggest concerns is having healthy hair. There’s nothing I love more than being blonde, but it destroys my hair and makes it not “shampoo commercial” worthy.  I bought their lavander and rosemary oils and after a few nights saw results in my hair.  

Oil is very good for healthy hair and for hair growth.  I applied the oils to the end of my hair overnight, then massaged it into my scalp in the morning.  This keeps the ends healthy and massaging your scalp with oil promotes hair growth.

The other two products I tried was their lemongrass deodorant and their blood orange soap.  One thing many people don’t know is the importance of using a deodorant with the least amount of chemicals. Non-organic deodorant has been connected to Alzheimer's.

I had positive results with the soap and also the deodorant.  When using new products like this, one of the biggest concerns is that they aren’t going to work, but these were better than any other drugstore brands.  The reason being is the smell, it was light and didn’t have that chemically smell. 

9 Reasons Why You Should Drive the PCH at Least Once in Your Life (And Stops to Make Along the Way)

Coming from an East Coast native, born and raised, the idea of California filled my dreams of a faraway magical kingdom; it taunted my growing restlessness.

I finally got to visit the elusive state, the classic California vacation and road trip. I flew into San Diego and drove the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) to San Francisco. All I can say is everyone needs to not only visit once, but drive the PCH.

The PCH is hundreds of scenic miles (including Highway 5, 1, and 101) of expansive highway that runs north and south along the coast of California: miles of dangerous winding roads, cliff sides, and an unbelievable, unyielding array of ocean.

The PCH allows us to take in a good amount of what California has to offer us. It makes us feel small, a speck in this universe. We feel so insignificant, yet capable of so much. We can be gracious and thankful for this world we were put on. It has magical, healing powers with the ability to stop time while everything is in motion. We feel free, endless. It gives us a taste of everything: beaches, mountains, deserts.

The state holds so much personality, so much talent, brilliance, opportunity, too much to grasp. It’s the perfect state, everything from Hawaiian-esque cliff sides with an insurmountable view of the Pacific to 102 degree deserts to forests of sky-high trees and it all takes your breath away with its versatility.

It really is a world wonder, one that is deep and lasting long after we’ve left. It instills this sense of adventure, wanderlust, humility, and undeniably: love, all felt on a spiritual plain.

It makes us feel as though we’ve finally found what we’ve been searching for, it hits a tender spot that makes us feel as though we’re finally home again regardless if it’s our first time or our hundredth.

A small exploration that resists close-mindness, encouraging us to think outside of this little bubble we tend to put ourselves in.

It’s one of those places where the impossible seems just in arms reach, we can sell all our belongings, ditch our friends and family, and escape with little to no money and no job without looking back.

Most people don’t view a short vacation this way, but if we take a moment to allow our emotions to flow in; I’m not wrong.

And, although I didn’t get to play in all the beautiful cities that the PCH veers into, I love California and I can’t wait to be hugging the Cali Cliffside once more.

1. San Diego

 I flew into San Diego, bypassing the downtown towers and railroad tracks. I wasn’t able to explore as much as I would have liked, but the few moments I did spend in San Diego, I could tell it was a city worth visiting.

2.  Huntington Beach

3. Los Angeles

from San Diego, Highway 5 runs straight through downtown Los Angeles. The traffic is horrid, but it gives you a taste of the LA lifestyle – the good and the bad. An abundance of hills, magnificent homes, and the notorious Hollywood sign, it really is something else that I have trouble finding the words for.

4. Santa Barbara

From Los Angeles, you can take I-10 for a longer route to reach Malibu or continue on Highway 5 which merges with Highway 101 heading west to hit Ventura. A few miles north is Santa Barbara: my favorite beach city to drive through. Even from a moving vehicle, it is apparent the joy living in Santa Barbara would bring. The coastline, mountains, and perfect weather was to die for.

5. San Luis Obispo (SLO)

SLO is smack in the middle of Central Coast Wine Country. Numerous vineyards surround the highway with rows and rows AND ROWS of grape vines. It is incredible to think about all the work and wine that comes from the vineyards. Fun Fact: You have to squish between 600 and 800 grapes to make a bottle of wine.

6. Hearst Castle

Turning left, heading west out of San Luis Obispo, you finally hit Highway 1, the PCH. Even if you don’t have time to visit Hearst Castle, it can be seen from the highway. A fairytale in itself.

7. Piedras Blancas of San Simeon

 Stop at one of the viewing points and experience the elephant seals of California. They don’t do much, but the hundreds of seals sun tanning allow you to appreciate just a small portion of the Cali wildlife.

8. Big Sur

Big Sur encompasses a range of sightseeing from the notorious Bixby Bridge, to Pfeiffer Beach, to Mcway Falls. In the simplest terms, the Bixby Bridge is the Golden Gate Bridge of Big Sur. It soars 260 feet above a canyon and has a 320 foot concrete arch span. Pfeiffer Beach, one of the top 10 beaches in California and home of the purple sand, will take your breath away. Mcway Falls was my favorite; a waterfall that cascades onto the beach. I don’t know where else one is able to see such a sight so accessible and for zero dollars.

9. San Francisco

 San Fran is an incredible city. I spent the most time there and can see why so many people love it. The hilly roads surrounded by those San Francisco type homes (think Full House) and numerous things to do, it is a city to explore. The Golden Gate Bridge is a must, Muir woods is a must – witnessing the 300 feet tall Redwoods. Also, Dolores Park deserves an afternoon: grab a six pack, some snacks and sit on top of the hill, people watch, and gaze in amazement at the city around you. Locals and visitors sun bathe, drink, play beer pong, eat, sell edibles out of a basket, and just relax.

These are just a few places to relish in when experiencing California and the famous PCH. There are numerous beach cities, amazing places to sight see, and if you do all or none, at least take Cali for all it is, all it has to offer, and all its glory.

After I came home from college, I realized that summer starts off slow and before you know it, it’s the end of August and you're getting ready to go back to school. Here's some outfit inspiration to last you the whole month of July.

July 1

High waisted shorts are the staple piece of my summer outfits because they are the perfect excuse to wear a crop top.  Summer nights (at least where I live) get cold, so always leave a cardigan or sweater in your car just in case.

I feel like everyone thinks maxi dresses are too fancy for a summer day, but they couldn't be more perfect.  Also, they are extremely comfortable and you don't have to worry about finding the perfect shoes.

This season is all about lace up tops and high neck sleeveless tops. One of the biggest struggles with high neck tops is finding the right bra so you don't have any straps showing.  Instead of wearing a strapless bra, because let's be honest those are uncomfy af, wear a bralette.

This dress is absolutely perfect for a 4th of July cookout. What I love about this dress is the pattern, it's small enough that it is not overwhelming.

Silky shift dresses are one of my favorite things to wear in the summer.  The reason being, July could not be more hot and uncomfortable, but this dress is perfect for a warm summer day.

This is a perfect outfit for a summer wedding on a Saturday afternoon.  Blue is a great color to wear at a wedding because it doesn't clash with anyone, also brides tend to go with purples and pink for bridesmaids.
