Love's a game, wanna play?: How to get Through A Breakup Through Taylor Swift 1989 Lyrics

So I got dumped, hard core and I had no idea how to deal with it.  To be honest this is the first real breakup I went though, yes I've been dumped before and been the dumper but none of those previous relationships led me to crying and ending up going to bed at 8:30 on a Friday night.  I was thinking about doing the typical right after watch movies and eat chocolate post but that just isn't me (not that I didn't binge watch netflix).  I think the best way to get through a break up is to have a little humor with it because you may feel like your life is over but it's really not in some cases it could just be the beginning.

Blank Space

So it's gonna be forever
Or it's gonna go down in flames
You can tell me when it's over
If the high was worth the pain
...
'Cause we're young and we're reckless
We'll take this way too far
It'll leave you breathless
Or with a nasty scar

This song pretty much describes any passionate relationship.  You are either going to be together forever and be that old couple who still have sex multiple times a week or your relationship is going to crash and burn.  But sometimes the burn is worth the time and effort you put into the relationship because it can help you in future relationships.  With these relationships you will either find yourself telling your girlfriends about the wild love you had for years or it being too painful to ever mention.  If this was the breakup you experienced focus on the positive and don't let the fire give you too much thought.

Style

Could end in burning flames or paradise
Fade into view, oh, it's been a while since I have even heard from you (heard from you)
...
I say, "I heard, oh, that you been out and about with some other girl, some other girl."
He says, "What you've heard is true but I Can't stop thinking about you," and
I...I said, "I've been there too a few times."

These lyrics are there for anyone who has ever been cheated on.  In this song Taylor describes him as a James Dean character, a boy that ever goes out of style aka all the girls want him.  No one deserves to be cheated on and no one should let it happen.  Stand up for yourself and get out of the relationship because if they're going to cheat on you now it's not worth the risk of them cheating on you when you have 2.5 kids and a mortgage. For this break up forget about it.   The good times you shared as a couple might lead you to go back, focus on yourself and find yourself someone you loves you too much to be afraid to hurt you.

Welcome to New York

Everybody here wanted something more
Searching for a sound we hadn't heard before
...
Like any great love, it keeps you guessing
Like any real love, it's ever-changing
Like any true love, it drives you crazy

But you know you wouldn't change anything, anything, anything
Can an artist please make a song about Boston? Anyways this song is all about love being something that sound be wonderful and make you feel empowered.  Maybe its my little obsession with gossip girl but there is some power that comes along with walking down the streets of New York (it could be just because I was 12 and the Jay-z song about NYC was just released.  Love should be something that keeps you wondering and wanting to know more about the person.  And it should also drive you crazy (not mad, crazy). Be crazy in love and have wild adventures.  These lyrics are to inspire you to have a love that keeps you excited.  It also helps to get over a bad relationship because something better will be out there, just find the right person to open yourself up to.

My 101th Post

First I would like to say I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween this year.

I am very sad that I missed my 100th post it said 99 then quickly changed to 100 so here it is the 101th post of Don't Be Common Fashion.  To think I started this whole thing when I was a lonely sophomore laying in bed when I was "sick" from school that it has come to something that I've continued to do for the past two years.  I've always love fashion, like what other five year old wears a eyelet dress to their 5th birthday when I believe that day there was an intense game of hid and seek in the woods behind my house.
I started this blog to help girls feel confident in what they where and helping people pick outfits. From what to wear to prom to what to wear on a Tuesday to school I am here for you girls.  Fashion can be complicated because some people are mixed with what they think is fashionable and what the opinion is between their friends.  Which is where the term "Basic Bitch" comes from.  Which I have sooooo been wanting to write a post about it.  I went to a high school where "Basic Bitch" would classify about 75% of my school.  Not that dressing that way in any way is bad, I myself own a north face rain jacket and Hunter Boots but never will  I ever wear vineyard vines.  And If anyone sees me wearing vineyard Vines you have the permission to steal it and burn it.

I want to concluded this post with the original Don't Be Common quote. "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."  Fashion is all about self expression.  Make it what ever you want it to be, because if someone is going to judge you on wearing two different color socks its probably not the only thing they judge about people.  Fashion is yours and don't let anyone take it away the feeling on looking amazing in an outfit.

Always,
Cara

Stunning Party Dresses For the Fall And Winter Season

Before I start this article I would like to say that there where four or five previous topics for today's post so the writers block had defiantly continued.  When people are asked about their favorite parts about holidays this time of the year many people would expect and 18 year old girl obsessed with fashion with a little of an online shopping addiction to say getting gifts.  To be honest I hate getting gifts, I know my parents do not understand either.  My favorite part of the fall/ winter holidays is celebrating with friends and family.  Here in this post I'm going to share a couple of dresses that will be perfect for you friends, family, or works holiday party.
News Years
After making this post I realized it not even past Halloween and who would even think about buying these dresses.  But buying dresses early is the smartest thing to do if you want to get the exact dress you want in your size.  The Last thing you want to do is fall in love with a dress and realize that the only sizes are either way too small or way too big.

This would be the perfect dress for you to wear at an office holiday party.  It is very professional but also will show off the best aspects of your body.
The Host
I love this dress.  The bottom of the dress and also the shoulders  are a scallop ending. This dress is perfect if you are hosting an event this season because of the color.  This color is regal and not a common color for people to wear during this time of year.
Baby doll Dress
I love this dress.  This dress is perfect to wear if you are attending a semi fancy Christmas party.  The top of the dress is embroidered and has a glittery sparkly  pattern.

The New York City Thanksgiving
This dress just reminded me of a dress that Serena would wear on Gossip Girl so I just had to put it in this post.
All of these dresses can be found on lulus.com

8 Things I think Everyone Should Read/Watch/Liston to

1. Liston to Thinking out Loud by Ed Sheeran

2.Watch Shake it Off by Taylor swift

3.Watch Catching Fire On Netflix

4.Read Anna Anna Kendrick tweets
For someone with such an intense need to be liked you'd think I would have figured out how to be less of an asshole.
Follow +Anna Kendrick

5. Read Losing it by Kate Monro
Kate Monro is an English writer who asks men and women the most intimate and person question out there; How they lost their virginity.  This book is great and a perfect book for when you are stuck on a bus traveling home for the holiday season.

6. Watch: How to get Away With Murder
Being sick on a Friday night turned out to not be such a bad thing.  How to get away with Murder is a show about a high power laser and her students who help her win her court case with also flash forwards to the Murder of her own Husband.

7.Watch Hocus Pocus
It's crazy to think this movie is 21 years old
8. Read Is Everyone Hanging out Without Me by Mindy Kaling
I absolutely love Mindy. If there was one famous person that I could have as a best friend it would be Mindy Kaling.  This book is great and hilarious.

Long Distance Relationships

Everyone knows how it feels to have long distant relationships.  Weather it be you and your best friend sense kindergarten when to college thousands of miles away or your spouse is serving their country over seas we all have felt the horrible pain of missing someone.  I'm just kinda going with the flow for this article so Just go with it but not in the crappy Adam Sander movie way.
First in this post I'm going to focus on your long distant relationships with your friends.  Everyone moves on in their life and when they move on they have to leave their friends behind.  The thing to remember is you're not leaving your friends behind your just making a change.  The biggest problem in this is you worry more about that something is going to change and you won't be friends anymore but its more important to stay connected to your friends.  Start a group message, arrange weekly Skype calls.  Chances are your friend is feeling the same way.  A great why to stay connected and show your friends that you care is send little care packages even if it's even a letter trust me they will appreciate it.
For people who are in romantic long distant relationships I have to commend you on trying to make it work.  Those of you who have loved ones over seas I wish I had your strength to work and show your love to your loved ones.  The first thing I have to say is that long distant relationships are fucking challenging.(Sorry I had no other way to form it).  The only positive about long distant relationships is when you finally see that person you've been wanting to see for so long its wonderful and then it ends and you go back to your normal life.  It gets to the point where you feel alone, and the only thing to help with feeling alone is getting distracted.  Find a hobby connect more with your friends.
Now comes the hard part making these relationships work.  Communication is the biggest part of making these relationships work.  There are so many couples apps like feel me, pair, and couple.  The best thing to use is Skype or FaceTime because then you can at least see their face and hear their voice.

Another Idea for making these relationships work is send each other little love gifts.  A classic idea is sending a message in a bottle another idea is making little cards that your significant other can open when a certain thing happens in their life.  For example open when you've had a bad day...
Finally my advice is make sure your relationship is worth the pain that you are going through from being away from this person.  Makes sure that the relationship is something that has a future and that your relationship is going to progress in the future and not crash and burn the second you come home.    I know personally that this can be hard but don't let it overcome your life and have trust in the relationship.

love, Cara

Things You Need to Know in College

1. Laundry
This could possibly be the most important thing you need to learn before you go to college.  You won't have our parents to relay on having your clothes clean so if you want to have good outfit choices.  My advice is start doing your laundry right after graduation so you get use to it.

2. Easy Cooking
In college you can't go out to dinner every nigh with your friends.  When your studying you will need a quick study break.  Before you go to college learn how to make basic pasta like spongebob mac and cheese.
3. Learn to Window Shop
Even though you think you love in in a few months you probably won't be using it.  Learn what is a necessity and what is not.  In college you will need all the money you can have to have a little fun.  Instead of going out every night in the summer try staying in and saving money.

Homework

In college you alone your best friend won't be their to help you with your homework and "compare answers".  If you are caught cheating in college you will be kicked out and you will loose everything.  If you need help in college talk to your professor.

Pulling and all Nighter

For me this will not be a problem, college is the one time in your life when sleep insomnia comes in handy.  When you need to stay up grab some caffeine and listen to some Eminem on Spotify.  The most important thing to remember is just don't stress out.

Dress Well

At college you will be meeting new people everyday.  Also you will be meeting people that could possibly being your Future employers.

xoxo-dbc

"Writers Block"

For some reason I have no idea what to say.  Sunday is my day where I map out my week and write the post that will be published during the week. It's odd that I can't think of anything to say because I pretty much always have something to talk to about fashion.  Whether it be what I want to achieve with my fashion or a new trend I want to show to introduce to everyone.  But I've been on my computer for about two hours and have come up with a couple of post them I have no idea how to end or even really how to start.  And this is why I don't like dating because it fucks with your head and makes you unable to concentrate but, with me it's pretty easy to get distracted.  So I would like to warn you all that read my post they might be a little odd and random and I might rant a little so enjoy and if not tell me I would love to hear your feed back.

Throw back sunday??

Scary Halloween Foods!

1. Spooky Witch Fingers
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup whole almonds
1 (.75 ounce) tube red decorating gel
DIRECTIONS:
1.Combine the butter, sugar, egg, almond extract, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Beat together with an electric mixer; gradually add the flour, baking powder, and salt, continually beating; refrigerate 20 to 30 minutes.
2.Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease baking sheets.
3.Remove dough from refrigerator in small amounts. Scoop 1 heaping teaspoon at a time onto a piece of waxed paper. Use the waxed paper to roll the dough into a thin finger-shaped cookie. Press one almond into one end of each cookie to give the appearance of a long fingernail. Squeeze cookie near the tip and again near the center of each to give the impression of knuckles. You can also cut into the dough with a sharp knife at the same points to help give a more finger-like appearance. Arrange the shaped cookies on the baking sheets.
4.Bake in the preheated oven until the cookies are slightly golden in color, 20 to 25 minutes.
5.Remove the almond from the end of each cookie; squeeze a small amount of red decorating gel into the cavity; replace the almond to cause the gel to ooze out around the tip of the cookie.

2. Spooky Mice

INGREDIENTS:
4 (1 ounce) squares semisweet
chocolate
1/3 cup sour cream
1 cup chocolate cookie crumbs
1/3 cup chocolate cookie crumbs
1/3 cup confectioners' sugar
24 silver dragees decorating candy
1/4 cup sliced almonds
12 (2 inch) pieces long red vine licorice
DIRECTIONS:
1.Melt the chocolate, and combine with sour cream. Stir in 1 cup chocolate cookie crumbs. Cover and refrigerate until firm.
2.Roll by level tablespoonfuls into balls. Mold to a slight point at one end (the nose).
3.Roll dough in confectioners sugar (for white mice), and in chocolate cookie crumbs (for dark mice). On each mouse, place dragees in appropriate spot for eyes, almond slices for ears, and a licorice string for the tail.
4.Refrigerate for at least two hours, until firm.

3. Owl Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Icing (recipe follows)
  • Candy corn
  • Miniature chocolate chips

Prep
1. Preheat oven to 350° (325° if using convection heat).
2. In a bowl, with a mixer on medium speed, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until blended, then beat on high speed until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until well blended. Add flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; beat on low speed until combined, then on medium speed until well blended. Divide dough into three portions.
3. Place each portion between two sheets of floured plastic wrap. Roll dough evenly into flat rounds about 1/4 inch thick. Stack rounds on a baking sheet and chill until firm, at least 45 minutes, or up to 2 days.
4. Working with one portion of dough at a time (keep remaining chilled), peel off top sheet of plastic wrap. Set floured pattern (see notes) on dough and cut around edges. Or with floured round cookie cutters (3-in. diameter), cut out cookies, placing cutters as close together as possible. Transfer to cooking parchment-lined or ungreased baking sheets, placing cookies about 1 inch apart. Repeat with remaining dough rounds. Gather up scraps and press together into a ball. If dough is still cold, roll and cut out remaining cookies. If it's soft and sticky, repeat step 3.
5. Bake cookies until firm to touch and slightly darker brown around edges, 8 or 9 minutes; if baking more than one sheet at a time in one oven, switch positions halfway through baking. Slide parchment with cookies off sheets onto racks or counter to cool, then remove from parchment. Or cool on pans about 1 minute and then transfer to racks to cool completely. If not using cooking parchment, wipe off baking sheets after each batch. Cool sheets before filling with more cookies.
6. Spread icing over cookies and decorate with candies, using candy corn for a beak and chocolate chips for eyes. Let stand until icing is firm, about 5 minutes.
Icing: In a small bowl, stir together 2 cups powdered sugar and just enough milk (about 3 tablespoons) to make a spreadable icing. If desired, tint with food coloring. If icing thickens as it stands, stir in a few more drops of milk.
Note:
Trace an owl-shaped pattern (for a template, see www.sunset.com/owl) on heavy paper or lightweight cardboard, or use cookie cutters in any shape. You can make the cookies up to 2 days ahead; store airtight.
4. Autumn Punch
  • Ingredients
  • 2 whole cinnamon sticks
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 1/3 cup sweet vermouth
  • 1/3 cup dry vermouth
  • 2 cups cranberry juice
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 bottles dry white wine, such as Sauvignon Blanc
  • 1 bottle dry, full-bodied red wine, such as Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 1 cup apple brandy
  • 1 cup citrus vodka
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
Prep
1. Simmer spices, vermouths, cranberry juice, and sugar in a small saucepan. Remove from heat and let steep 1 hour.
2. Chill remaining ingredients in a large container. Strain spice mixture into wine mixture and chill until ready to serve.
